I want my images to evoke a sense of place. The beauty of the flower, animal or scene is captured through my conscious selection of visual elements and choice of materials. I compose my photographs because of what I feel at the moment. The subjects of the photographs are not rare, however, I can feel immediately a fresh look at the things that we see every day. I strive to capture the spirit of the moment and the story the photograph tells.
I work to capture the calm of the moment or the beauty of the day. My flowers stand tall, and wildlife images show animals in their prime. The colors are sometimes strong, sometimes muted, and they are used imaginatively to bring you into the world I experienced when I created the image. When design and the world of light and shadow convey a stronger sense of place, I chooses black and white as my palette. Black and white is not the absence of color but the presence of various tonal values. My images are about design, aesthetics and minimalism. In a world filled with chaos simplicity is refreshing.
